Top 5 events in Estonia this summer

If you still need an excuse for spending your summer holiday in Estonia, then check out this list of events pulling the crowds over during the next couple of months. Largest summer events and festivals feature everything from things to do in Tallinn, world’s best rally drivers racing on dusty village roads, to opera on a medieval island.

auto24 Rally Estonia, from 15.07. to 17.07. 2016.

An auto-sport and entertainment event for the whole family is an official round of FIA European Rally Championship. The leaders of the European rally will compete in the category of historic cars as well as modern rally cars in Tartu and on the gravel roads of South Estonia. There will be over 30,000 spectators from about 20 countries and the televised rally will reach 20 million viewers.

Weekend Festival Baltic, from 04.08. - 06.08. 2016.

Largest electronic dance music event in the Nordic countries takes over the popular Pärnu beach for a weekend in August. Headliners in 2016 include AVICII, Afrojack, Axwell & Ingrosso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Knife Party, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki and Tiesto.

Saaremaa Opera Days, from 25.07. to 31.07. 2016.

Established opera festival taking place in the courtyard of the medieval Episcopal Castle in Kuressaare, the capital of Saaremaa island. Festival highlights include Bizet’s “Pearl Fisher”, Verdi’s “Otello” and Szymanowski’s “King Roger”. Visitors can also enjoy the premiere of “Swan-bone City” by local opera composer Ülo Krigul.

SiS IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää presented by Ferroline Group, from 05.08. to 07.08. 2016.

This is the only IRONMAN race and biggest triathlon festival in Baltic countries, which includes also Grüne Fee IRONKIDS, charity run and an entertainment programme. Thousands of competitors, spectators and volunteers are expected to appear at the race taking place mainly in the 900-year-old town of Otepää, known for it's hilly landscape and greenery.

Birgitta Festival combines the dusky charm of a medieval convent with the latest in contemporary musical theatre. This festival, now a calling card of Tallinn classical music scene, has acquired a loyal audience returning annually for new trends in international musical theatre.
